2.Frequently Asked Questions

How does voice counting work?

Lisanak uses Apple's on-device speech recognition to listen for specific dhikr phrases — SubhānAllāh, Alhamdulillāh, Allāhu Akbar, Astaghfirullāh, Lā ilāha illa-llāh, and Salawat. When you say the dhikr clearly, the counter increases automatically.

The recognition happens entirely on your iPhone using Apple's Neural Engine. Nothing is recorded, and nothing is sent to any server.

Does Lisanak record my voice?

No. Lisanak never records audio. Voice recognition happens live, on-device, using Apple's built-in Speech Framework. The app listens only while a voice session is active and discards the audio stream immediately after detecting the phrase.

There is no audio file, no transcript log, and no recording stored anywhere. Your dhikr stays between you and Allāh.

Does Lisanak work offline?

Yes. Voice counting and tap counting both work fully offline once you've granted microphone permission. You can put your iPhone in Airplane Mode and continue counting your dhikr.

Prayer times require your location and an initial network connection to calculate accurately, but once calculated, they work offline as well.

Which dhikr does voice mode support?

Lisanak currently recognizes six core adhkār by voice:

  • SubhānAllāh (سُبْحَانَ ٱللَّٰه)
  • Alhamdulillāh (ٱلْحَمْدُ لِلَّٰه)
  • Allāhu Akbar (ٱللَّٰهُ أَكْبَر)
  • Astaghfirullāh (أَسْتَغْفِرُ ٱللَّٰه)
  • Lā ilāha illa-llāh (لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا ٱللَّٰه)
  • Salawat (ٱللَّٰهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَىٰ مُحَمَّد)

More adhkār may be added in future updates, in shā' Allāh. You can also use Tap Mode for any dhikr not on this list.

Is Lisanak free?

Yes. Voice counting, tap counting, prayer times, statistics, and streaks are all free forever. There are no ads and no paywalls.

You can optionally support development through a one-time tip or a monthly sadaqah jāriyah — but every feature is yours either way.

What is the tip jar for?

Lisanak is built and maintained by a solo Muslim developer. Tips help cover hosting, Apple Developer fees, and ongoing development.

Your support is considered sadaqah jāriyah — ongoing charity that continues to benefit you as long as Muslims around the world use Lisanak to remember Allāh.

How do I restore a previous purchase?

Open Lisanak, go to Settings → Restore Purchases. Any previous tips or subscriptions tied to your Apple ID will be recognized.

If you previously subscribed and need to manage or cancel, you can do that in iOS Settings → [Your Name] → Subscriptions.

How do I delete my data?

All your data lives on your device. To delete it, open Lisanak and go to Settings → Delete All Data, or simply uninstall the app.

Nothing remains on any server, because nothing was ever sent there.

3.Troubleshooting

Voice mode isn't detecting my dhikr

If the counter isn't responding when you speak:

The app crashed or froze

Crashes are rare but they can happen. Try these steps in order:

Prayer times look wrong

Prayer times depend on your location. If they seem off:

The Adhan isn't playing

If you're not hearing the call to prayer at the scheduled times:

A tip or subscription didn't go through

Tips and subscriptions are processed by Apple. If something didn't work:

My streak disappeared

Streaks are stored on your device. If a streak resets unexpectedly:

4.Feature Requests & Feedback

Lisanak is built with the Muslim ummah in mind, and your input shapes where it goes next. If you have an idea — a new dhikr to add, a feature to improve, a translation, or anything else — please share it.

Email support@lisanak.com with the subject line "Feature Request" and we'll read every word, bi-idhnillāh.
